50 Anagrams with Answers
Try 50 anagram questions, from easy word swaps to longer phrase puzzles. Work through the clues first, then use the answer key to check your solutions.
In short
An anagram rearranges the letters of a word or phrase into a different order. In an exact anagram, every letter is used the same number of times.
These 50 puzzles include straightforward word anagrams, trickier letter patterns and classic phrase anagrams. Keep a note of your answers before opening the answer key.
How to Use This Quiz
Read each scrambled word or phrase and rearrange the letters to find the answer. For phrase anagrams, spaces can move, so focus on the complete set of letters rather than the original word breaks.
- Start with the first four rounds if you want a gentle warm-up.
- Write down possible prefixes, suffixes and familiar letter groups.
- Check the answer key only after you have attempted the clue.
- Use the Anagram Solver for a longer or particularly difficult set of letters.

What Counts as an Anagram?
An anagram is a word or phrase made by rearranging the letters of another word or phrase. The Cambridge Dictionary definition of anagram gives the same basic rule: the letters are used in a different order.
For an exact anagram, check four things:
- The total number of letters is the same.
- Each letter appears the same number of times.
- No letters have been added.
- No letters have been left out.
Spaces, punctuation and capitalisation do not change the underlying letter count. That is why DORMITORY → DIRTY ROOM works even though the answer uses two words.
For more verified examples, see Anagram Examples. To learn a repeatable solving method, read How to Solve Anagrams.
Need More Help?
If you enjoy anagram quizzes, the right tool depends on the puzzle:
- Use the Anagram Solver for ordinary letter sets.
- Use the Multiple Word Anagram Solver for phrase combinations.
- Use the Crossword Anagram Solver when you have a clue pattern or known positions.
- Read Anagram Tips for faster manual solving.
Keep practising, and check the letter counts whenever an answer looks almost right but not quite exact.
Common Questions About Anagram Quizzes
Do anagrams have to be one word?
No. An exact anagram can produce a phrase, as long as the complete set of letters is unchanged.
Do spaces count in anagrams?
No. Spaces can be moved or removed when you compare the letters.
How do I check an anagram answer?
Ignore spaces and punctuation, then compare the sorted letters or count each letter on both sides.
What is the best way to solve a difficult anagram?
Look for common prefixes, suffixes and vowel patterns. If you are still stuck, enter the letters into the Anagram Solver.
